Sherri Conant April 29, 1999 1:20am Inspired by: Wallbrat Another Piece Loneliness seeps into my heart; A silent shadow stretching across the fading sun lit sky. And I sink deeper inside The flooding mix of freewheeling thought and emotion I close my eyes to force back The hot tears threatening to cloud my vision And even as they slip past my lashes I smile, for this is love or so I have been told. The suitcase has opened The baggage I carry with me, spilling upon the floor And even as I carefully return it to its rightful place I look up to you, hoping that you will pick up the pieces for me. I cry myself to sleep The wind rips through the night taking the peacefulness with it And my walls of defense An ancient blanket protect me against the encroaching darkness But you don't see me I am but a passing thought as life moves you onward And I step aside Letting you pass because that is what you do when you are in love. You are just one more piece stuffed into my luggage case.
